About Us
Far North Queensland Regional Swimming Association
Far North Queensland Regional Swimming Association (FNQRSA) incorporates 19 swimming clubs in Cairns, north to Weipa, west to Normanton, south to Tully and the Atherton Tablelands.
FNQ Swimming provides support in many areas including membership drives, development clinics, and hosting swim events. FNQRSA, together with Swimming Queensland, has also developed pathways for swimmers to reach their goals at a regional, state and national level.

Regional Report
2024/25 FNQRSA Regional Report
Regional Events
Our regional Short Course Championships were held 27th and 28th July 2024 and attracted 237 swimmers resulting in just over 1700 entries. The Long Course Championships held 1st and 2nd March 2025 and attracted 278 athletes and 1800 entries in events and relays.
Strategic Direction
FNQRSA Committee continue to focus on the strategic direction for swimming in the region together with the sustainability of the organisation to lead this activity. The focus for this season was the delivery of Development Clinics in partnership with Swimming Queensland.
Technical Officials
We are fortunate to have a talented and dedicated team of Technical Officials led by Kathy Hare. This year we continued our focus to grow and further development the team and attract new officials from across the region.
Development
The development clinics held throughout the season were well attended by swimmers. A total of five (5) clinics were held for the Age Development Squad, National Squad and State Squad. These include:

September 2024: Movement Improvement Physio Clinic

November 2024: Biomechanics and Swimming with Ryan Hodierne, Senior Movement Specialist, QLD Academy of Sport

January 2025: National Team Camp held in South-East Queensland over 22nd to 26th January

January 2025: Regional Development Clinic with Olympic Gold Medallist Chelsea Hodges

March 2025: National Development Clinic aimed for all swimmers attending Nationals.
Management Committee
Committees consist of volunteers who dedicate time and energy and a strong commitment to ensure that things just don’t happen but happen seamlessly and well. We are very fortunate to have such a strong committee within our region.
