State Development Squad (SQS)

The State Development Squad is aimed at swimmers 12 years and over who meet the FNQ Qualifying times and are striving to qualify for State and National Age Championships.

Swimmers in the State Development Squad are introduced to advanced racing skills, conditioning for performance and support services such as dry-land programming and the introduction of sport science services.

Eligibility

Open to swimmers, subject to meeting the qualifying times to attend the 2022 McDonald’s Queensland Championships.

Age as at the first day of the Queensland Championships, 10 December. Minimum age is 12 years for individual events and 10 years for Relays.  Swimming “up” is not permitted. 

FNQ State Development Squad (SDS) Qualifying Times are Queensland States qualifying times plus the following margins:

50m 0.5 sec
100m 1.0 sec
200m 3.0 sec
400m 5.0 sec
800m 10.0 sec
1500m 15.0 sec

Qualifying times must have been achieved at an approved meet (either short course or long course) on or after 1 January 2021. Converted short course times will only be used where an existing long course time has not been achieved. If there is no qualifying time stated for your age group, you cannot compete in the event/s concerned.

Swimmers will need to have TWO (2) of these squad times or at least ONE (1) actual qualifying time.

Development Clinics

In partnership with Swimming Queensland’s Club and Coach Development Officers, FNQ Swimming host a number of clinics to assist swimmers to further develop their skills.

2022/23 FNQ Development Clinics:

  • 17th & 18th September, 2022
  • 8th October, 2022
  • 26th & 27th November, 2022
  • 25th February, 2023
  • 18th & 19th March, 2023

Nominations to attend these clinics will be via Swim Central.

Qualifying times will be made available as part of the event information.
